How the book is written
Every operational claim below reflects what is actually being done. Where a process is not yet in place, the page says so.
How products are selected
Products are chosen for inclusion because they represent a category clearly: a named material, published dimensions, a documented power and water rating, and a design that suits the experience level of the section they appear in. Popularity, price and commission rate are not selection criteria. Nothing is included because a manufacturer asked.
Whether products are personally tested
Not yet in placeProducts are not personally tested. Guides describe categories and documented attributes; they never claim firsthand experience. Any guide that implies testing is an error and should be reported.
How factual specifications are verified
Not yet in placeAll current product records are placeholders. Their materials and dimensions fields say so explicitly, and each page carries a visible placeholder notice. No record will be marked verified until its specifications have been checked against the manufacturer's documentation.
Specifications and editorial opinion are displayed in separate, labelled areas on every product guide. Editorial text is written in the book’s own words; Amazon descriptions, manufacturer marketing copy and customer reviews are never copied or republished.
How affiliate compensation works
My Dark Book participates in the Amazon Associates Program. When a visitor follows a link to Amazon and makes a qualifying purchase, the site may earn a commission at no additional cost to the visitor. How often guides are reviewed
The intended review cadence is every 6 months. Each guide and product record shows a “last reviewed” date. Content was last reviewed September 10, 2026.
How unavailable products and broken links are handled
Not yet in placeAutomated link checking is not yet in place. Product availability changes constantly, so every guide directs visitors to check current details on the product page. Reports of unavailable products are welcome at the address below.
How corrections can be submitted
