The best gift in this category presumes nothing. The second-best follows a conversation. Everything else is a gamble.

The low-stakes tier

Massage candles, robes, card decks and blindfolds ask nothing of the recipient. They can be enjoyed on their own terms, they photograph like ordinary luxury, and they open a door without pushing anyone through it. If you have not had the conversation, stay here.

After the conversation

Once you know what a partner is curious about, the more specific chapters become available: sensory sets, shared-use products, beginner restraint sets. Choose from the beginner tier of whichever chapter matches, and prioritise quiet, easy-to-clean and nonporous.

Presentation and packaging

A plain box, tissue paper and a handwritten note do more than any branded packaging. On delivery: Amazon does not guarantee unmarked packaging for every item, and policies change.
