Chapter VI · Section 1 of 11
Water-based lubricants
The most versatile family: generally compatible with latex and silicone products, easy to wash away, and reapplied more often.
What to look for
- Osmolality and pH
- Some public-health guidance discusses lubricant osmolality and pH. Manufacturers do not always publish these figures; when they do, they are worth noting for sensitive skin.
- Oil and latex
- Oil-based products, including many massage oils and household oils, are widely reported to weaken latex barriers. Keep them apart unless the packaging explicitly says otherwise.
